V-flats are a staple tool for portrait photographers,
helping reflect or subtract light from their subjects.
They’re not typically portable, at least when you
try to build one yourself (good luck with that!).
But V-Flats (from the aptly named V-Flat World)
are. You can fold them in half twice and achieve
a square size that’s compact enough to slide into
the back seat of a car or a very roomy trunk. They
feature a black side to subtract light and a white
side to reflect it. The 7-pound modifier opens
up to 80 x 80 inches and includes a poly-cotton
The 14L is roomy enough for a Z 6 or Z 7 mirrorless
camera or a compact DSLR, and it can also
accommodate up to five lenses, a 10-inch tablet
and a foldable drone like DJI’s Mavic. It’s fitted with
Tenba’s “Pivot Fit” strap to easily adjust the bag for
a variety of shoulder sizes and shapes. The exterior
is forged from water-repellent material and there’s
an included rain cover for when the skies open up.
The base of the bag features straps for securing a
tripod, and the back has a pass-through strap, so
you can slip the bag over the handles of rolling
luggage. The interior of the bag has customizable
dividers for segregating your gear and clear
organizer pouches for neatly stowing accessories
like portable drives, memory cards and keys.
